Court adjourns Yogita Thakre case

Category : City |  Posted Date : 18/01/2013

TOI NAGPUR: The Nagpur district and sessions court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of Yogita Thakre's death case till February 20. The seven-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a car parked on the premises of BJP national president Nitin Gadkari's residence on May 19, 2009.

After complaints by her parents, the investigation was passed on to state criminal investigation department (CID), but it gave a clean chit to all members of the Gadkari family, declaring it to be an accidental death.

However, her parents, citing her post mortem reports, which mentioned several injuries on Yogita's body and blood stains on her clothes, had claimed that there were several loopholes in the investigation. After this, JMFC Nilima Patil ordered a reinvestigation into Yogita's death. After the CID submitted its closure report recently, the case came up for hearing before the same judge, but was adjourned for technical reasons.
