In the epic
Maharashtra, Bheema killed the evil Kichaka after a hercullean bout and
threw him into the vally. Hence the name Chikhaldara or chikhalda from
kichak Dara, the vally of kichak. Situated in the satpuras at a hight of
118m. Chikhaldara is a green and unspoit hill station. With gently
wooded slopes, rippling streams and an invigorating cool. The
interesting excursions from here are, Gavilgarh fort, Namala fort,
Shakkar lake where you can go on a pleasant boat ride. Bhimkund where
Bheema washed his hands after slaying kichak, Shiva Shrine, the Vana
Udyan a botanical garden, the tribal museum. Of all the beautiful things
that make up Chikhaldara, the tribes take pride of place
